This project involved the complete redevelopment of the entrance lobby of the main Allianz headquarters in Trieste. The intervention consisted, on one hand, of the demolition of part of the existing entrance structure and, on the other, of its complete reconstruction.
The controlled demolition of the main entrance was carried out using remote-controlled robotic demolition equipment with hydraulic clamps, while cuts to the existing reinforced concrete beams and columns were executed using large-scale diamond-blade cutting systems. Structural restoration and reinforcement works were completed using carbon fibre technologies.
The reconstruction — including movable furnishings — involved the redesign of the façade, characterised by large glass surfaces and steel structural elements. The opaque sections of the façade were externally clad in basalt stone, complementing the outdoor entrance area paved in bush-hammered Aurisina stone. A 60-square-metre canopy in steel and glass was also constructed.
The interiors were finished with custom-designed flooring in Aurisina stone laid in situ with lead detailing, while the wall and ceiling cladding — also custom-designed — was executed using Fantoni 4Akustik panels. The circular columns within the lobby and the walls leading to the underground parking garage were finished in Venetian stucco.
The landing areas of the six lifts serving the six floors of the office building were completed with Aurisina stone flooring and Fantoni sound-absorbing ceiling panels, while the walls were again finished in Venetian stucco.
